Voiceover King Don LaFontaine Dies at 68

Don LaFontaine, the man whose resonant voice read the trailers of thousands of movies over the past three decades, died Monday in Los Angeles. He was 68.
LaFontaine, who did voiceover work in more than 5,000 trailers during his 33-year career, turned the "In a world where ..." opening line into an industry standard for studios promoting movies and TV shows.
"We have to very rapidly establish the world we are transporting [viewers] to," LaFontaine told the Associated Press last year, explaining the tactic. "That's very easily done by saying, 'In a world where ... violence rules.' 'In a world where ... men are slaves and women are the conquerors.' You very rapidly set the scene."
The voiceover legend remained active until recently, booming through seven to 10 voiceover sessions a day from his home studio. LaFontaine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications in the treatment of an ongoing illness, according to his agent.

Roc Star 2008 Fall/Winter Collection-SWEET

We get a full look at the Japanese label Roc Star's 2008 fall/winter drop. Diverse is the best word I could chose to describe the lineup, they offer garments for every style, whether it be outerwear, denim, tees, accessories and so forth, which allows for a clever mix or colors, cuts, and silhouettes. Some Americana influence can be seen, especially with the Public Enemy inspired pieces. Creating a new movement in the Japanese street culture scene, look out for cameos by Big-O and Verbal amongst other personalities.

Jeremy Scott x Adidas

Adidas Originals by Originals is the latest concept emanating from the giant German sportswear as their lifestyle directed adidas Originals creates a series of collections featuring a mixture of international influencers. Among the participants for the debut collection are eclectic American designer Jeremy Scott who’s wild style is translated onto the Artillery Hi. The upper of the sneaker itself is a multi-colored mix with snakeskin accents, available in both orange and green colorways. Rumored to be joined by the likes of Alyasha Owerka-Moore of Fiberops and Kazuki of fragment design among others, the Jeremy Scott portion will release in February of 2009. Look for Limiteditions to be among the few stockists worldwide.
